The Everything Soapmaking Book (first edition) contains an error!
Please note that the amount of water given in the basic Hot Process recipe on page 145 is wrong.
The amount is given as 1 lb 8 oz of water. It SHOULD BE 12 ounces. The recipe is for a batch that uses two pounds of oils and the rule of thumb is 6 ounces of water per pound of oils. So, the amount printed is twice as much water as is needed. I'm hoping that readers have made other batches and catch the error their own!

I found the error while making soap for the holidays using my own book. Luckily, it's not a dangerous error, just an inconvenient and confusing one. Many apologies for the error.
